This PDRN Cream 100, Nourishing & Restorative Moisturizer by VT Cosmetics caught my attention because number one- it's a K-Beauty product, and number two- it was advertised as being lightweight. It arrives in a sealed box, and the tube itself has a tin foil seal on it as well. I immediately began using it, and have been using it for almost 3 weeks now. This cream has no added fragrance, and is scent-free. It comes out of the tube as a white cream of medium consistency, though it feels lightweight upon application. If you look closely at the cream you can see little blue dots which are the Azulene capsules. These little capsules contain eucalyptus for extra hydration and to help with cellular regeneration. It feels silky smooth going on, and is easy to distribute evenly over the skin. There is a bit of oiliness to it initially, but once absorbed it did not leave any noticeable residue on my face. One thing I've noticed with this cream is that it gives an instant plumping effect. This is because it contains four different forms of hyaluronic acid, which are able to penetrate the skin at different levels for Superior hydration. It also contains five different forms of ceramides, which will help to keep that hydration sealed in, while also reinforcing the protective moisture barrier layer. Of course, the main story with this moisturizer is the vegan PDRN which comes from ginseng. According to the maker, vegan PDRN has a lower molecular weight then animal-based PDRN, which allows for better absorption. This is the product's main anti-aging ingredient, since PDRN is thought to be able to smooth the skins texture, minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve hydration levels, reduce inflammation, and boost collagen and elastin production. So this is not an ingredient geared for instant gratification, but with continued use some of these benefits will likely be seen. The good ingredients in this moisturizer just go on and on... So let's just say that there are several more which will also help with anti-aging, soothing and protecting the skin against environmental stressors. It is a mostly clean formulation except it does contain one ingredient that I can do without, and that is dimethicone. Dimethicone is silicone-based, and forms a film on the skin to help keep moisture from escaping. The issue is that it can also trap in excess sebum, bacteria and other icky stuff, which can cause breakouts and blemishes for those prone to that. However, even though my skin does not like silicones, this formulation has not posed a problem, so I'm going to assume that there is not enough in there to trigger issues for me.Moreover, this seems to be a thoughtful formulation focused on providing anti-aging benefits, hydration and protection. Since I've been using it I have noticed that my cheek areas (which have acne scars) are looking smoother, and some discolored areas by the jawline are looking lighter - that is in addition to the plumping and firming that happens immediately after using it.Currently this moisturizer is selling for $42.25. I think that it is easily worth that much if not more, due to it containing so many beneficial ingredients, including some lovely botanicals that don't come cheap.
